The Student Council is a representative body of students formed by students of the Faculty and has at least three members. The Council takes its decisions at its meetings by a majority of its members. The work of the student council is led by a president appointed by the student assembly.

 

Student Council

  • discusses all matters relating to the rights and duties of students,
  • discusses the Statute of the Faculty in the part related to the rights and duties of students, and gives an opinion on this to the competent authorities,
  • gives an opinion on other general legal acts of the Faculty and other matters related to the rights and duties of students,
  • may give an opinion on the candidate for dean and vice-dean of the Faculty,
  • accepts and implements the program of extracurricular activities of students of the Faculty in cooperation with the student community,
  • organizes elections of student representatives to the senate, academic assembly and other bodies and working bodies of the Faculty,
  • gives an opinion on the pedagogical qualification of higher education teachers and higher education associates upon election to a higher title or upon re-election to a title,
  • considers the self-evaluation report,
  • participates in assessing and verifying the actual workload of students,
  • takes care of the connection of the students of the Faculty with the student organizations in the Republic of Slovenia, the European Community and around the world and
  • performs other tasks related to students.

Elections to the AMEU – ISH Student Council are held in November or December on the basis of a call. In the 2019/20 academic year, the following representatives were elected to the AMEU – ISH Student Council:

The Student Council elects or appoints student representatives to the academic choir, senate and other bodies and working bodies in which student representatives have a mandate.

Extracurricular activities at AMEU – ISH

In addition to studies, AMEU – ISH also conducts a number of extracurricular activities that informally connect students and staff at AMEU – ISH. Extracurricular activities are organized by the Student Council of AMEU – ISH, as well as various associations, clubs, etc. Students of the faculty also have at their disposal a wide range of extracurricular activities organized by the Student Council Alma Mater.

Social and community activities:

  • Introductory, New Year’s and closing social meetings and gatherings of students with professors, mentors, leadership of AMEU – ISH
  • Professional and social excursions of students
  • Tours of Slovenian cities with visiting foreign higher education teachers

 

Activities related to culture and art:

  • Active participation of students in various public events in the field of arts and culture (e.g. discussion evenings, exhibitions, Book Night events, etc.)
  • Visiting cultural monuments and getting acquainted with the cultural heritage of Slovenia

 

Projects and research outside the compulsory components of study programmes:

  • Public lectures and seminars related to students’ projects outside of studies
  • Co-organization of public lectures with societies, clubs, etc.
  • Active participation of students with contributions at the AMEU’s annual scientific conference with international participation “All about people”
  • Active participation of students in summer schools abroad, international scientific congresses, etc.
  • Presentations (of proposals) of development projects of students outside their studies
  • Applications for interdisciplinary professional student projects to public tenders (e. g. Student Innovative Projects for Social Benefit – ŠIPK)
  • Writing articles for the student newspaper Audeamus

  • Professional workshops for students and staff led by a librarian (e.g. on searching suitable databases, etc.)
  • Workshop on writing scientific articles
  • Workshops on writing final works (at the level of Alma Mater)

Sports activities at the level of Alma Mater:

  • Friendly sports matches of AMEU students with students of other higher education institutions
